Biography for Harry L. Cheddie, P.Eng., CRE, CQE, CFSE

Citizen of Guyana
Attended St. Stanislaus College in Georgetown, Guyana for Secondary Education
Graduated from Salford University in the UK with a B.Sc. (1st Class Honors) degree in Electrical and Controls Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Alberta and Ontario, Canada. Harry is certified by the American Society for Quality as a Quality Engineer (CQE), and as a Reliability Engineer (CRE). He is also a Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE).
Mr. Cheddie has over forty years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of facilities for the mining, petroleum and petrochemical industries. He has considerable experience in completing safety and reliability studies.
He is presently responsible for completing safety and reliability studies for Oil and Gas companies worldwide. He also teaches courses with an emphasis on Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) studies for Process Industries.
Worked for Guybau in Linden, Guyana as Engineer for 7 years
Completed Safety Studies for off shore Oil and Gas platforms in India, UAE, and for Suncor (FPSO for Terra Nova)
He is the co-author of two bestselling textbooks relating to the design of Safety Instrumented Systems:
Safety Shutdown Systems: Design, Analysis & Justification.
Safety Instrumented Systems Verification: Practical Probabilistic Calculations
Mr. Cheddie worked at Imperial Oil (Exxon), Sarnia Refinery for 16 years. During this period he was the Operations Support Supervisor for 8 years, and I&E design Supervisor for 4 years. He also worked at Bayer in Sarnia as I&E design and maintenance Supervisor.
As a Process Safety Consultant he has visited and carried out safety training, safety and reliability studies (HAZOPs, and RAM studies) for companies in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Australia, China, Japan, India, Germany, Spain, Finland and the Netherlands.
